Connor Wong is a solid fantasy baseball waiver wire pickup for Week 8 (2024) in two-catcher leagues. Fantasy baseball managers should add Wong as a No. 2 catcher in two-catcher formats.

ANALYSIS: Boston Red Sox catcher Connor Wong has enjoyed a torrid start to his 2024 season but fantasy managers may want to pump the brakes on his surface production to this point.
The 27-year-old (28 in four days) is hitting a hefty .340 with five homers and a .911 OPS through 28 games and 104 trips to the plate. That's the good news.

The bad news is widespread. Wong has walked in just 2.9% of his plate appearances and his .305 xwOBA is miles below his .397 wOBA. Additionally, he owns a .394 BABIP despite sitting in the 29th percentile or worse in barrel rate, hard-hit rate, and average exit velocity.
He boasts some pop and even stole eight bases last season, the second best among big league catchers. However, regression is a certainty moving forward and he is still in a timeshare with the lefty-swinging Reese McGuire behind the plate, although he's getting the strong side of reps, even against right-handed pitching.
Wong's production likely won't continue to keep up with a No. 1 catcher role but he is a fine complement in two-catcher formats.
