BALLER MOVE: Stash in Deeper Leagues
CALL-UP ETA: July
ANALYSIS: Chicago White Sox top infield prospect Colson Montgomery has been getting hot at the plate through May and is nearing his major league debut. Through the first 13 games of the month, Montgomery is riding a .267/.393/.556 slash line with three long balls and an excellent 10:10 BB:K ratio. This is a significant improvement compared to his April slash line of .211/.324/.358 with three home runs and a 13:38 BB:K ratio.

This has been the 22-year-old’s first taste of Triple-A pitching, and he has begun to settle in and perform as he has done throughout the minor leagues. Last season across three levels of the minor leagues (Rookie, High-A, and Double-A), he posted a .287/.455/.484 line with eight home runs and a 56:56 BB:K ratio, which is very similar to his current May stat line.
Montgomery is considered the 11th-best prospect in baseball on MLB Pipeline and is projected to reach the major leagues sometime this summer. Since he just reached Triple-A this season and has only logged 37 games at this level, he may not have an opportunity to be promoted until later in the summer. For now, he should remain a solid stash candidate in deeper leagues.
