BALLER MOVE: Continue Scouting; Add in NL-Only Leagues
ANALYSIS: Asche is off to a nice start for the Phillies, batting .250 with 1 HR, 2 RBI and 4 Runs over 4 games. After three solid minor league seasons at the plate, the 23 year old has established himself as the starter at third base. Proceed with caution because new manager Ryne Sandberg may spell Asche against tough lefties and other unfavorable matchups for the youngster. On the plus side, being a lefty in Philly’s small ballpark could net him 15-20 long balls. His track record in the minor leagues suggests that he could post a decent average (.287 BA) with some speed for a corner infielder, but there is also some swing and miss making him susceptible to slumps. My recommendation is to continue to monitor for now, but in NL-Only leagues Asche is a solid addition to your squad.
