ANALYSIS: Coby Mayo has been crushing it in the minors, and it's only a matter of time before he gets the call-up to the big leagues. The 22-year-old third baseman for the Norfolk Tides has put up some eye-popping numbers in the minor leagues this year, slashing .305 with 22 home runs and 62 runs batted in over 262 at-bats. His 1.035 OPS is just the cherry on top, showcasing his lethal combination of power and on-base prowess.
Drafted by the Orioles in the fourth round of the 2020 MLB Draft, Mayo has steadily climbed the ranks and proven himself at every level. His career minor league stats are nothing short of impressive, in 364 games, Mayo owns a .284 average, 79 home runs, and 271 RBIs. This kid is the real deal, and the Orioles are going to have a hard time keeping him down on the farm for much longer.
