BALLER MOVE: Start at RB in 12+ Team Leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: RB1
ANALYSIS: Kansas City Chiefs running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire had a sizeable role in the team's offense in Week 14 and 15 when the regular starter, Isiah Pacheco (shoulder) was injured. But since Pacheco returned to the starting lineup in Week 16, CEH's role has evaporated.
Edwards-Helaire went from carrying the rock 24 times in Weeks 14 and 15 to getting just four carries in a Week 16 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders. Pacheco was back on the injury report this week with a concussion and a shoulder injury. Pacheco returned to practice on Friday (limited), but he still has some more steps to go through in the concussion protocol if he is to be cleared for Week 17.
Edwards-Helaire is also questionable with an illness, but it seems he is expected to play. If Pacheco is unable to make it, CEH is a good start against a weak Cincinnati Bengals run defense. The Bengals have allowed 4.6 yards per carry and two rushing touchdowns since Week 15, and they have allowed the thirteenth-most rushing yards to fantasy RBs on the season. Clyde Edwards-Helaire is the RB33 in RotoBaller's Week 17 half-PPR rankings.
UPDATE: Pacheco (concussion) has cleared the league's concussion protocol. That being said, Pacheco is expected to suit up for the Week 17 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals. The Chiefs could certainly use his help as they find themselves in danger of losing the divisional title. The expectation is that Pacheco will resume his role as the workhorse back in the offense. Fantasy managers should wait until the official word, but they should be able to plug Pacheco back in their lineups on Sunday. This makes Edwards-Helaire unplayable in all leagues.
