The official start of the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season doesn't happen until the Daytona 500 in a couple of weeks, but we're blessed with some on-track action this weekend with the Cook Out Clash at Bowman Gray Stadium on Sunday night.
Bowman Gray is a tiny quarter-mile track with zero banking. It has gone viral online over the years for the tempers that have flared on track, and now we get to see some of the best racers in the country battle it out in a non-points-paying event.
Nicknamed "The Madhouse," the NASCAR Cup Series hasn't raced at Bowman Gray since 1971. On Saturday evening, we saw practice, qualifying, and four heat races. Now, on Sunday night, we get a Last Chance Qualifier race followed by the 2025 Clash event, where only 23 cars will start.

How The Algorithm Works & Important Stats
There are quite a few statistics that go into the algorithm formula, including recent performance both overall and at this week's track specifically, similar track performance, projected strength of the car, practice speeds, starting position, and a few other variables.
All of these numbers are used by the algorithm to compute a "Power Index" number for each driver.
The higher the Power Index number, the faster that driver is expected to be during the race. All of the drivers are then ranked based on their Power Index number to achieve the predicted finishing order of that event.
