The NASCAR Cup Series ran the EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix this past Sunday afternoon at Circuit of the Americas (COTA) with William Byron starting from the pole and leading 42 of the 68 laps en route to his second win on the young 2024 season.
Byron had the best Average Running Position in the race (2.28) and all of the top-five finishing drivers ranked sixth or better when it came to Average Running Position. The exception in there was Ross Chastain, who had the fourth-best average running position but ended up finishing seventh after losing time on the final pit stop.
Of the top five finishers in this weekend's event, Alex Bowman had the worst Average Running Position at 8.96, as he, for the second week in a row, didn't have a ton of speed early on in the race but found that speed as the event went on. Bowman also started mid-pack, so he had to work in traffic throughout the day to get to the front.
