ANALYSIS: This is far from your under-the-radar WW option. In fact, not many players with such a low usage and volume of opportunity are as rostered as Chuba Hubbard was prior to the last TNF. That's what happens when you're Christian McCaffrey's backup, folks. Nobody was excepting it to happen, but we can all agree there was always a chance of it happening: CMC got injured, forced out of the Panthers W3 game against Houston, and is expected to miss a few weeks exactly as last year.

Now, if you remember, CMC getting knocked out off Carolina's lineup opened the door for Mike Davis, who took the chance running (no pun intended) and became a high-round target for fantasy GMs out there this summer thanks to his exploits backing up McCaffrey in 2020. I'm not saying Chuba Hubbard will do the same on an RB1 role for a bunch of games, but there is a very clear path toward weekly fantasy bounties for the rusher.

Hubbard had barely touched grass prior to Week 3, playing just 7 and 19 offensive snaps in the first two games of the season with no rushing attempts in W1 (2-2-4 receiving line) and 8 carries for 10 yards in W2 (no targets). Then, this past Thursday and with CMC out for a good chunk of the game, Hubbard played a season-high 40 snaps for a 55% snap share and a 75% share from the moment CMC came down injured. The line wasn't staggering at 52 yards on 11 carries and a 5-3-27 receiving performance, but those 16 opportunities in just 40 plays are more than encouraging. I wouldn't rush to add him in shallow formats because this guy is still an incognita, but definitely grab shares of Hubbard in most other league formats and keep an eye on him in smaller ones because he can turn into an out-of-left-field league winning addition to your roster.
