Week 4 of the 2024 NFL season is underway. Fantasy football players have some last-minute start ‘em and sit ‘em decisions. Chuba Hubbard, J.K. Dobbins, and Carson Steele have flashed significant fantasy upside over the first three weeks.
Chuba Hubbard faces the Cincinnati Bengals. Meanwhile, J.K. Dobbins takes on the Kansas City Chiefs. Lastly, Carson Steele will battle the Los Angeles Chargers.
Which of these running backs should fantasy players start in Week 4? Let’s dive into it!

Should I Start Chuba Hubbard For Fantasy Football?
Hubbard struggled over the first two weeks with the Carolina Panthers offense playing awful. However, he was outstanding last week following the change at quarterback. The former Oklahoma State star had 26 touches for 169 scrimmage yards, a receiving touchdown, and 25.4 half-point PPR fantasy points in the win over the Las Vegas Raiders.

The veteran running back has an appealing matchup in Week 4 against the Bengals. Cincinnati has surrendered 107 rushing yards, one touchdown, and 19.9 fantasy points per game to running backs this season. They have given up 23 or more fantasy points to running backs in two of three games, including last week.
Fantasy players can trust Hubbard as a high-end RB2 with upside. He is one of my favorite must-start candidates in Week 4.
Should I Start J.K. Dobbins For Fantasy Football?
Dobbins has been a star running back in his career. Unfortunately, injuries have limited his production. Thankfully, the former Ohio State star has stayed healthy this season, putting up career numbers. He is one of four running backs averaging over 100 rushing yards per game this year.

The veteran is the RB13 over the first three weeks, averaging 16 half-point PPR fantasy points per game. Unfortunately, Dobbins faces an elite Kansas City run defense this week. The Chiefs have held running backs to only 14.3 fantasy points per game, the fourth-fewest in the NFL.
While Dobbins has played well this season, fantasy players should avoid starting him in Week 4, especially with the offensive line banged up.
Should I Start Carson Steele For Fantasy Football?
Steele was a preseason darling, earning his way onto the Chiefs’ 53-man roster. The undrafted rookie has earned high praise from head coach Andy Reid. Last week, Steele was the lead running back with Isiah Pacheco unable to play, totaling 72 rushing yards and 7.9 half-point PPR fantasy points against the Atlanta Falcons.
#Chiefs HC Andy Reid on Carson Steele:
“For his first game, I thought he did a really nice job. He’s gotta do a couple things on protection, but he’ll take care of that… He gives you an honest down. He’s gonna run hard. He’s a big kid. He’s gonna come at ya.” pic.twitter.com/XaHE79WQGe

The rookie running back will have more competition for touches in the backfield after Kansas City signed Kareem Hunt to the active roster. More importantly, his matchup against the Chargers isn’t ideal. Los Angeles has surrendered only 16.5 fantasy points per game to running backs, the eighth-fewest in the league.
Fantasy players should consider Steele a risky flex option with limited upside against the AFC West division rivals.
