BALLER MOVE: Add In 12-Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 11% of leagues
ANALYSIS: Detroit Pistons power forward/center Christian Wood has seen some extended playing time so far this year as the team awaits Blake Griffin's (knee) return. The timetable for Griffin to make it back on the court is currently unknown, but for however long his absence may be, Wood stands to be a viable fantasy option in leagues of 12 teams or deeper.
Wood first became a noteworthy fantasy contributor last season, during an eight-game stretch with the Pelicans at the end of the year where he averaged 16.9 points, 7.9 rebounds, 1.3 blocks and nearly a three and a steal per game while shooting 53.3% from the field. As those stats suggest, Wood is a versatile player who can contribute in a range of categories when he gets the playing time.
Wood was claimed off Waivers by the Pistons this offseason. In his third game with the team, he was one of the Pistons' most productive players, scoring 19 points while hitting all three of his three-point attempts and adding 11 rebounds in just 21 minutes.
While Griffin is out, Wood should see at least between 15 and 20 minutes a game, which should allow him to deliver around 10 points per game with an assortment of other stats as well. He's got great short-term value that should extend to however long the team is without Griffin.
