Christian Kirk (WR, ARI) - Week 17 Waiver Wire Pickups

ANALYSIS: While Christian Kirk had a fantastic start to the 2020 season, he had been a little bit on the wrong side of things during the past few weeks. Until last Saturday, that is, when he broke his bad second half of the year averages to come back to his first half ways.

During the W1-9 span, Kirk averaged 14 PPR points per game, and if we remove its W1 stinker (1.0 PPR point), that average would go up to 16.2 FPPG. In Weeks 10 to 15, though, Kirk dropped his average to a measly 5.4 PPR points per game topping at 9.0 in W11. That was mediocre, and most fantasy GMs gave up on the Cardinals receiver in favor of other options.

This past weekend, though, Kirk reached 14.6 PPR points, scoring 10+ points for the sixth time this season. To do so he caught 7 of his 10 targets, logged 76 receiving yards, and although he couldn't score any touchdown he still finished as the no. 2 highest-scoring Cardinal only bested by QB Kyler Murray (16.4 FP).

DeAndre Hopkins has been the team's go-to weapon on offense, as was always going to be the case, but Kirk has retained the WR2 role all year long being second in targets, receiving yards, and tied-first with Hopkins in touchdowns with 6 each. The matchup next week is tough as nails, with the Rams ranking no. 1 against fantasy WRs, but Kirk should be a good addition to deep-league rosters and a good play at the WR3/FLEX spot with upside for more.
