BALLER MOVE: Start
POSITIONAL VALUE: WR2
ANALYSIS: New Orleans Saints wide receiver Chris Olave won't have fellow WR Rashid Shaheed to compete with for targets anymore, and his QB1, Derek Carr (oblique), seems set to return in Week 9. This gives Olave excellent upside, and barring something unexpected, he should be a target hog moving forward.
Chris Olave a top-10 Fantasy WR in Week 9?
+ Saints have a top-10 Vegas-implied point total
+ Carolina league-worst pass rush
+ Carr has been twice as likely to target Olave when not pressured, per @FantasyPtsData
+ Olave target-hogged in Week 8👇 https://t.co/fwhy8ZGgFv— Jacob Gibbs (@jagibbs_23) October 30, 2024
It may have taken a season-ending injury to another player to make Olave live up to his potential. He was drafted around the WR12 spot in this year's fantasy drafts and was considered a borderline WR1, but he had some severe dud games, like his two catches for 11 yards in Week 1. Hopefully, those days are behind him.
It's somewhat alarming that Carr seems to prefer to throw to other receivers, and Shaheed was likely set to be the WR1 in New Orleans before his injury, but No. 12 is far more talented than the other pass-catchers on the roster, and that's not possible to ignore. He's a WR2 moving forward and should be started in all leagues.

The wide receiver position has an advantage over the running back position in PPR scoring formats, typically.
