With Andre Ellington expected to be back for the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday against the St. Louis Rams, your first reaction may have been to immediately bench running back Chris Johnson and start Ellington. Well, not so fast! Coach Bruce Arians has said that Johnson is still expected to see 15-20 carries a game.
So what should you do? Well, it's really a matter of how much you trust Arians. And if we have learned anything throughout the years, it's to never trust a head coach when it comes to fantasy football.
Ellington and Johnson will likely split carries against the Rams because Ellington will have to prove that his knee is ready for a full workload. However, Ellington is still the safer option due to his receiving skills. Johnson may have had a great game against the San Francisco 49ers, but the game was a blowout. The Rams have a much tougher run defense which will likely call for Arians to spread them out and throw the ball more. If that happens, Chris Johnson will frequently be subbed out for Ellington or rookie David Johnson.
