Baller Move: Add in Two-Catcher leagues
Owned in: 25% of Fleaflicker leagues
Analysis: Chris Herrmann of the Diamondbacks is 28-years-old and has never had more than 157 AB in an MLB season which he did with the Twins in 2013. This season in Arizona, Herrmann has already reached 98 AB and has a .286/.355/.561 slash line with six home runs and three stolen bases. Even in the limited 2016 sample size, with a power/speed figure of 4.0 and an isolated power number of .276, it is fair to consider this an "out of nowhere" type of performance. With a solid walk rate of 10% which shows improved strike zone discipline, Herrmann has reached base 35 times and has attempted a stolen base three times and has been successful three times.
Herrmann has a streaky track record in his career, but his work in the minors shows that he is indeed capable of power and contact with the bat and that he has the athleticism to steal bases in the double digits if his OBP will allow for ample opportunities. Given that he has currently been playing well, is playing in a HR-friendly park, and is one of the few catchers with power/speed upside, Herrmann has made himself a must-have acquisition in two-catcher leagues.
