Baller Move: Add in all leagues
Owned In: 32% of Fleaflicker leagues
Analysis: Brought in from the Twins to be Wellington Castillo’s backup in Arizona, Chris Herrmann has imposed his will on this 2016 season, forcing his added playing time. A career .181 hitter heading into this season, the 28-year-old didn’t look much different in April, picking up just four hits in 29 at-bats. In May, however, things have been quite different. As Castillo has struggled, Herrmann has blossomed, hitting an astounding .408 on the month. It’s been an incredible turnaround that’s been quite difficult to understand. Since April 23rd, Herrmann has doubled his BB%, significantly lowered his K%, increased his SLG% by 700 points and his ISO by nearly .400. Over the weekend he brought up his batting average to .312, drew a pair of walks, tallied more hits and struck out just once. As Wellington Castillo continues to struggle, Herrmann will earn more and more playing time, and eventually we’ll find out if he’s the real deal. In the present time, however, he’s developed into one of the hottest commodities, especially with the backup catcher department being such a swing-and-miss game. With ownership now up to 32%, you’ll want to grab him now before he continues to explode.
