Chris Herndon IV (TE, NYJ) - Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickups

New York Jets tight end (TE) Chris Herndon IV is a fantasy football waiver wire pickup to target as a free agent addition for Week 10 of the 2019 NFL season.

BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues

OWNED IN: 30% of Leagues

ANALYSISThe frustration is real, but you need to keep the faith and believe in Chris Herndon IV. Another week, another DNP for the sophomore, what can we do. This was the time when it really really looked like Herndon was going to see the field for the first time this season, but ultimately he didn’t and disappointed his owners and risk-takers once again.

Entering Week 10 I’m finally confident he’ll be part of the Jets offense. If I wasn’t I wouldn’t write another column on why you should get him from waivers before it’s too late (in fact, he’s already owned in 30% of the leagues, so be careful out there). With the short amount of playable options at the tight end position, almost anyone is a good streaming flier to put on your lineup any week and hope for the best. You just can’t predict what is about to happen on a given day. Herndon, though, should be one of the safest plays once he finally makes his season debut. Last season Herndon finished the year with 502 yards on 39 receptions to go with four scores, all that as a rookie.

The Jets are bad, sure, but that means they need to pass the ball to try to catch up with their rivals often. Le’Veon Bell is more than questioned and there is just a handful of average-at-best players at the wide receiver positions. The Giants are going to make things hard for the Jets next week, but Herndon is more of a ROS player than just a one-off streaming guy. Consider him a long-term solution for the TE position of your team and hold onto him until the end of the season, even more knowing New York has worse than average teams at stopping tight ends (Washington, Oakland, Miami, and Pittsburgh) on their schedule coming next.
