Chris Godwin vs. Calvin Ridley - Who Should I Draft in 2024 Fantasy Football?

Wide receivers have taken over the first round of fantasy drafts in recent years. That has never been truer heading into the 2024 season, as eight wide receivers have an ADP inside the top 12. 

As a result, wide receivers are coming off the board quickly in drafts. However, don't worry if you don't grab one of the top ones because there are just as valuable fantasy wideouts to select in the later rounds. Wideouts like Chris Godwin and Calvin Ridley are still available in the sixth round. 

So, is Godwin or Ridley the better draft pick in 2024? Let's dive in and find out.

Chris Godwin 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook

Godwin disappointed a lot of fantasy managers last year after finishing as the WR29 in PPR formats. However, part of that finish was due to his slow start to open the season. The Buccaneers wideout only averaged 10.1 PPR fantasy points in the first 12 weeks. However, he averaged 15.7 PPR fantasy points over the final six games.

With Godwin forming a strong connection with quarterback Baker Mayfield as the season went on, look for that connection to only grow in Year 2 together. Not much has also changed offensively for Tampa Bay, so the 28-year-old should still serve as Mayfield's second option in the passing game. That makes him a solid WR3 in fantasy heading into 2024. 

Calvin Ridley 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook

In his first season back from suspension, Ridley showed his potential with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He finished as the WR18 in PPR formats while averaging 13.5 fantasy points per game. But things will be different for the 29-year-old this year as he signed a four-year deal with the Tennessee Titans this offseason.

Now, his landing spot in Tennessee is not particularly a great one. He'll have to compete with DeAndre Hopkins for WR1 targets, and having a young quarterback in Will Levis throwing him passes is not necessarily great news, either. However, given his $92 million contract, the Titans will likely do all they can to get their playmaker the ball.

Still, there might not be enough targets to go around in that offense to make Ridley anything better than a WR3 in fantasy every week. 

Who Should I Draft in Fantasy Football?

Who to select between these two wide receivers might depend on your early-round picks. If you are looking for a player with a safer floor, Godwin would be the preferred choice. He has finished as a top-30 wide receiver in six straight seasons. Nonetheless, Ridley will have the higher upside. As of now, though, the Buccaneers wideout might be the better pick because there is less risk in drafting him.
