Since being acquired from the Rams, Chris Givens has seen a steady rise in targets, but he hasn't turned the targets into much production yet. With 14 targets in the last two weeks, he only has six catches for 62 yards and a TD. His prospects of being Joe Flacco's new deep threat made him an interesting waiver pickup. However with Flacco now out for the rest of the year with a knee injury, we'll have to see what the offense looks like before Givens merits a fantasy start.
This year has been full of injuries, and it seems to have hit the Ravens as hard as almost any other team. Flacco, Justin Forsett, Steve Smith and last year's first round pick Breshad Perriman are all out for the season. Though Flacco would have been a better QB for Givens' fantasy purposes, the lack of other options for Baltimore might allow Givens to see continued targets from backup Matt Schaub.
Outside of the Seahawks in Week 15, the Ravens have a soft schedule coming up against defenses who have struggled to stop the pass this season. This Monday night the Ravens play the Browns who have given up the second-most passing touchdowns this season, and star cornerback Joe Haden hasn’t played since November 1. It’s not a sure thing, but Givens is still worth stashing until we see what the Ravens’ offense looks like under Matt Schaub.
