BALLER MOVE: Add in 14-Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 1% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: With Sammy Watkins limited to just five snaps in Monday's loss to the Rams with a foot injury, Chris Conley played 89 percent of Kansas City's offensive plays, the second consecutive game where Conley was the number-two receiver in the team's lineup.
While Conley didn't do much with that snap share against the Cardinals, he made the most of it in a high-scoring loss to the Rams, finishing with seven receptions for 74 yards and a pair of touchdowns. And with Watkins still not appearing to be ready to be a factor for Kansas City, more playing time should be coming Conley's way.
Conley already has four touchdown receptions this season for Kansas City's high-flying offense. With Tyreek Hill functioning as the deep threat, Conley has the chance to carve out a role underneath for the Chiefs, and while he isn't getting many air yards this season, he has produced well with what he's been given. His fantasy value is dependent on Watkins remaining limited, but in the event that he does, Conley is worth a waiver add in deeper leagues. He had 17 percent of the team's targets in this past game with Watkins barely a factor, and a similar target share in future games in the Mahomes-led offense would put Conley in line for some under-the-radar value in PPR leagues.
The downside here? There's a bye week ahead for Watkins to get back to full health. But Sammy Watkins staying healthy has been a struggle in the past, and Conley has shown enough that the Chiefs may feel comfortable playing it safe with Watkins to try to keep him as healthy as possible heading towards the playoffs.
