BALLER MOVE: Continue Scouting
ANALYSIS: Two weeks have already gone by since the Veras trade, and the Houston closer saga still remains unresolved. The team opted to go with a closer-by-committee approach, but only two save opportunities have arisen. Jose Cisnero was initially expected to take over the role, but it never came to fruition. Instead, he got shelled in two lower-relief appearances, resulting in a demotion. The first candidate in line became Josh Fields. He was granted with the team's first save opportunity, and took advantage of it in a 1.1 IP appearance. However, two days later, he coughed up the next opportunity up in humiliating fashion: 3 ER in 1 IP. Relievers Travis Blackley and Wesley Wright were once possible candidates, but neither is on the 25-man roster. Blackey was designated for assignment and Wright was traded to Tampa Bay. With most of the other closer candidates coming off of poor performances, Chia-Jen Lo appears to be the most logical choice for earning save opportunities.
