The 2023 NASCAR season has been a fairly difficult one for Chase Elliott. The popular driver has battled both a broken leg and a suspension this year.
Elliott has struggled at times when on the track. The young star has failed to find victory lane in 2023 and currently stands just 23rd in the NASCAR Cup Series Points Standings.
The No. 9 team driver will need to make a strong push to qualify for the NASCAR Playoffs, though he does start this week's New Hampshire Crayon 301 race in a less-than-ideal spot. What is Chase Elliott's starting position and outlook in the NASCAR Cup Series Crayon 301 at New Hampshire on Monday, July 17th, 2023?

What Is Chase Elliott's Starting Position In New Hampshire?
Chase Elliott will begin the Crayon 301 from the 18th position. His qualifying efforts were in the middle of the pack with consistency on Saturday. Worse, his practice laps were only 28th. That average of 31.116 seconds was more than six tenths of a second off from Martin Truex Jr.'s time.
Elliott had qualified second or third in three consecutive races at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway. He even led 66 laps in his past two appearances. However, the No. 9 car needs to take risks too. Elliott is 23rd in the standings and the clock is ticking for the playoffs.
