The NASCAR Cup Series ran a single practice session at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Saturday evening in preparation for the upcoming Coca-Cola 600 on Sunday.
The 40-car field was split into two groups for this practice session. Below you'll find the two practice groups, key notes from the practice session and the practice speeds for all drivers.
Track conditions were pretty close for each session, so we don't have to deal with analyzing which group was faster this weekend like we have done for many races this year. It is worth noting that both groups had a caution in the middle of it, though, so that is noteworthy.
Important Practice Notes
William Byron - William Byron spun during the first practice session. He didn't get any damage during his spin but it was in the middle of many drivers' long runs, so we need to take that into account when analyzing long-run speed this weekend.
Here's how many laps each driver made at the time of the Byron spin that stopped Group A
Important for when we look at longer-run lap times, they'll have already had these many laps on their tires (different per driver) pic.twitter.com/jQUcwxQhTo

Chris Buescher - During the second group's practice session, Chris Buescher had an issue and slammed into the wall. It is believed that he blew a left rear tire, which caused the issue. Buescher will likely have to go to a backup car.
Tyler Reddick - The No. 45 team got popped in pre-race inspection for making an adjustment after going through the inspection. As a penalty, Reddick will have to drop to the rear to start the race and make a pass-through penalty at the beginning of the Coca-Cola 600.
Reddick team was found to have made an adjustment after going through tech to the underwing. Penalty: Drop to rear and pass through for start of race. Car chief ejected. Loss of pit selection. Must take qualifying lap to scuff tires (so don't have extra stickers for race).
