The NASCAR Cup Series ran the Coca-Cola 600 this past Sunday evening at Charlotte Motor Speedway, one of the Crown Jewel races of the season. Unfortunately, Kyle Larson wasn't able to make it to the race in time due to him participating in the Indianapolis 500, and then the Coca-Cola 600 was shortened by rain, which put a damper on the whole day. Christopher Bell was awarded the victory, as he was leading when the rain started.
Bell had the Best Average Running Position for the race (3.06) and was followed in that statistic by William Byron (3.65), who finished third. The Toyotas of Ty Gibbs (4.46) and Bubba Wallace (6.47) were third- and fourth-best in the category, with Alex Bowman rounding out the top five (7.47).
Of the top five finishers in this weekend's race, Tyler Reddick had the worst Average Running Position (21.58), ranking just 18th-best in that statistic but finishing fourth. A major reason for that is because Reddick started the race with a pair of penalties: first, he had to drop to the rear to start the race, and then he had to make a pass-through penalty in the pits during the green flag run.
