Now that we are fully entrenched in the season, College Football DFS becomes a bit easier to study as trends and patterns are taking shape. This week, we get to see some of the most high-octane offenses in the country on display as the likes of Texas, Ole Miss, UCF, and Colorado all take the stage on the main slate.
Overall, this week it seems as if each position has some nice value plays in the mid-range; however, the top end and the bottom end are a bit lacking due to tighter pricing than we have seen. It may be key to watch for late injury notes to be able to find that one value option to unlock the slate.
In this article below, you will find my CFB DFS lineup picks for Week 5 (Saturday, September 28) via my positional college football rankings. CFB DFS Quarterback Rankings
QB | Cash Rankings Per $ | QB | GPP Rankings Per $
1 | Riley Leonard | 1 | Jaxson Dart
2 | Billy Edwards Jr. | 2 | Josh Hoover
3 | Alan Bowman | 3 | Shedeur Sanders
4 | Tyler Shough | 4 | Riley Leonard
5 | Jaxson Dart | 5 | Billy Edwards Jr.
6 | Texas QB | 6 | Jake Retzlaff
7 | Shedeur Sanders | 7 | Alan Bowman
8 | Josh Hoover | 8 | Taylen Green
9 | Kurtis Rourke | 9 | Texas QB
10 | KJ Jefferson | 10 | KJ Jefferson |
The top end of quarterback is stacked this week; however, as you will see a theme building, those players are priced up to the extent that they are tough to play in cash games. Riley Leonard has back-to-back 30+ point outings and another plus matchup this week while coming in much cheaper in cash-game lineups.
In GPPs, it will be interesting to see how lineups are constructed around Jaxson Dart and Shedeur Sanders. It seems likely at their prices you may have to go all in on a full game stack with those players and hope you hit the correct wide receiver pairings.
As a note, both Quinn Ewers and Arch Manning are priced the same this week, as we likely will not know until later in the week who is starting. Both are essentially the same play and are good plays if we get 100% clarity.

CFB DFS Running Back Rankings
RB | Cash Rankings Per $ | RB | GPP Rankings Per $
1 | RJ Harvey | 1 | RJ Harvey | |
2 | Woody Marks | 2 | Henry Parrish Jr.
3 | Henry Parrish Jr. | 3 | Ja'Quinden Jackson
4 | Ja'Quinden Jackson | 4 | Kalel Mullings
5 | Jaydon Blue | 5 | Jaydon Blue
6 | Kalel Mullings | 6 | Woody Marks
7 | Jeremiyah Love | 7 | DJ Giddens
8 | Donovan Edwards | 8 | Devin Neal
9 | DJ Giddens | 9 | Darius Taylor
10 | Jerrick Gibson | 10 | Ollie Gordon II |
Another position, another set of two players at the top who are great but simply may be priced up too much for cash games. Ollie Gordon II is not in play in cash games until we see more; however, RJ Harvey has been a workhorse back this year and gets an elite matchup with Colorado.
In GPPs, it will be hard to get away from the UCF and Ole Miss offenses, but there are some intriguing plays on the high end. Darius Taylor and Gordon will likely see their lowest-rostered numbers of the season, but it also would not be surprising to see two of the best running backs in the country get their numbers, even in tough games.
CFB DFS Wide Receiver Rankings
WR | Cash Rankings Per $ | WR | GPP Rankings Per $
1 | Tai Felton | 1 | Tai Felton
2 | Jack Bech | 2 | Tre Harris | |
3 | Ja'Corey Brooks | 3 | Kobe Hudson
4 | Luke Grimm | 4 | Antwane Wells Jr.
5 | Antwane Wells Jr. | 5 | Jack Bech
6 | Kaden Prather | 6 | Luke Grimm
7 | Travis Hunter | 7 | Rashod Owens
8 | Tre Harris | 8 | Savion Williams
9 | Brennan Presley | 9 | Chase Roberts
10 | Jahmal Banks | 10 | De'Zhaun Stribling |
Not to keep beating the same drum, but yet again, the top two priced players at wide receiver, Travis Hunter and Tre Harris, appear to be simply too high priced for cash games. A player like Tai Felton or Jack Bech offers savings of a few thousand dollars, while nearly matching the production of those top two options.
In GPPs, shifting away from the UCF and Oklahoma State running games could be a nice contrarian play that is a sneaky stack. This could also be where you try to save a few dollars of salary as there are options such as Rashod Owens or Cayden Lee on elite offenses that are down the salary charts.
