While Justin Jefferson and Ja'Marr Chase were the first two wide receivers drafted in almost every fantasy football league last season, neither superstar ended the year in the top three. Instead, CeeDee Lamb and Tyreek Hill were the top two wide receivers.
Fantasy players will have a decision to make this upcoming season. Christian McCaffrey will be the near consensus 1.01 pick in redraft leagues. However, should Lamb or Hill be the second player drafted?
Let’s look at the 2024 fantasy football outlook for both players and decline a winner for the 1.02 pick.

CeeDee Lamb’s 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook
Lamb was the focal point of the Dallas Cowboys’ passing attack last season. He nearly had a 30% target share, accounting for 181 targets. The next closest Cowboy in targets was Jake Ferguson with 102. Furthermore, Brandin Cooks was the next closest wide receiver on the team with 81 targets. More importantly, Lamb ended the year as the WR1, averaging 19.7 half-point PPR fantasy points per game.
The former Oklahoma star set career highs in receptions (135), targets (181), receiving yards (1,749), and touchdowns (12) last year. Yet, Lamb should be even better in 2024. Dallas lost Michael Gallup and Tony Pollard in the offseason, replacing them with Ryan Flournoy and Ezekiel Elliott.

Tyreek Hill’s 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook
Hill has been a superstar since joining the Miami Dolphins in 2022. He has back-to-back seasons with 119 receptions on at least 170 targets for over 1,700 receiving yards. However, the superstar wide receiver nearly doubled his receiving touchdown production from 2022 to 2023. After totaling seven scores in his first year with the Dolphins, Hill had 13 last season.

More importantly, Mike McDaniel has built the offense around the superstar receiver. Hill has had a 29.7% target share since joining the team. He was the WR2 in 2023, averaging a career-high 19.8 half-point PPR fantasy points per game despite missing time with injuries late in the year. Despite turning 30 in March, Hill shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
Who Should I Draft?
Fantasy players should jump at the chance to draft either superstar wide receiver. However, there must be a winner in this debate. Lamb should be the first wide receiver drafted in every redraft league this summer. He is younger than Hill, has no injury risk, and less competition for targets. While the Dolphins have Jaylen Waddle, the Cowboys have no one to stop Lamb from seeing up to 200 targets in 2024.
