CC Sabathia enters his 16th season competing for a rotation spot for the very first time. Following a stint in rehab, Sabathia heads to spring training healthier and confident, with an abundance of support from those around him. Andy Pettitte believes Sabathia can adjust to his declining velocity the same way he did later in his career. Despite coming off two of the worst campaigns of his career, Sabathia showed improvement late in 2015, posting a 3.80 ERA in August and 2.25 in September. Sabathia’s race against Ivan Nova for the fifth spot should be monitored before rostering him late in deeper league drafts. If the job becomes his, ten to 12 wins doesn’t seem too farfetched in a predicted bounce back year. It’s difficult to envision Sabathia tapping out before even entering the ring.
