CBB DFS Prop Picks for Sunday (3/21/21) - Monkey Knife Fight

Chris Wassel provides his CBB DFS prop picks for Monkey Knife Fight and NCAA college basketball games on Sunday, March 21st. Make your DFS picks with his advice.

March Madness continues with Day 3 as there are wall-to-wall college basketball games on from Noon EDT till around Midnight. That's the potential of 12+ hours of Madness. Our focus will be on the night games.

MonkeyKnifeFight.com continues to be ahead of the curve with their canceling of contests amid postponements, so don't worry about wasting money on a player or game that might not play. As always, you can find me @ChrisWasselDFS on Twitter with any questions, especially since lines and players are subject to change throughout the day.

Tonight's featured matchups are Rutgers versus Houston and North Texas verus Villanova. Once you're done here, be sure to also check out the rest of our NCAA Tournament articles and analysis including previews, predictions, sleepers, busts, and guides on how to fill out your brackets.

Rutgers vs. Houston

Jacob Young (Rutgers) LESS 13.5 Points - Quentin Grimes (Houston) MORE 15.5 Points

This could be rough on the old ticker. Unlike yesterday, where props seemed to hit early, this one is much different. Young has had a real problem getting to the foul line in four of his last five games. The one time he did, Young scored 23 points against Minnesota after nine trips to the charity stripe. Those free points require driving to the hoop and drawing contact. However, Young has been more of a facilitator. Does he tone his game down again on Sunday? Young attempted just seven shots against Clemson. If he is below 13 field-goal attempts again versus Houston, expect 13 points or less again on Sunday.

Quentin Grimes plays his position well defensively but more importantly has a nice presence from the perimeter -- err three-point range. Combine that with shooting nearly 80% from the free-throw line and the low total set here is one that could be an easy target. Grimes has scored 16+ points in eight of his previous ten contests and Rutgers can get drawn into a higher-pace game with ease. This Cougars team averages 78 points a contest and again Grimes has hit four or more three-pointers in four consecutive games. Do not overthink this one too much. The nice part is that the guard looks for his shot and takes what is given from the defense. Rutgers will yield plenty of open looks in this one as Houston has one of the better offenses you will see in this tournament. Take the MORE.

A win here pays three times your wager.

North Texas vs. Villanova

Javion Hamlet (North Texas) MORE 16.5 Points - Jeremiah Robinson-Earl (Villanova) MORE 16.5 Points

The sophomore guard is hot right now with back-to-back 20+ point games and he will keep shooting the ball (16+ attempts in five straight starts). The other nice part is Hamlet is not afraid of the big stage. He did not back down against Purdue in overtime and still attacked the basket. It is how North Texas ultimately eliminated the Boilermakers. Villanova is not the team they were a month ago and Hamlet should be able to drive play once again. He also gets to the foul line more than most guards and with the Wildcats lacking the same guard depth they had, Hamlet should be able to hit the MORE and lead his team in scoring.

The second half of this prop features Jeremiah Robinson-Earl. If Villanova is to advance, Robinson-Earl must create havoc inside as he did against Georgetown and Winthrop. The power forward drew a ton of fouls and wound up at the foul line 13 and 11 times respectively in those games. North Texas can play a little rough defensively which could make this more of a half-court contest in chunks. Zachary Simmons can shut some forwards down but Robinson-Earl plays at another gear when he puts his mind to it. That could be a difference-maker in this game. The MORE should hit here but barely.

A win here also pays three times the wager.
