Two days in and the "madness" of March is already in full effect.
Several staples of daily fantasy rosters are gone--along with their teams, of course--but there are still plenty of great players to go around. So, how to choose?
Without further delay, below are our favorite Daily Fantasy College Basketball picks for FanDuel DFS games for March 19, 2016.
CBB DFS Guards to Target on FanDuel
Monte Morris - Iowa State (vs Arkansas-Little Rock, $8,500)
Morris isn't sneaking up on anybody--and he'll come at a price. But Monte is money for, well, the money. He's arguably the best point guard in the country (14.1 PPG, 4.1 RPG, 6.9 APG, 1.8 SPG) and, though he had a rough go in the Big 12 conference tournament, he seems to have rebounded well with a 20-point performance in the first round of the NCAAs. He and forward Georges Niang (see below) form one of the top one-two tandems in the college game.
Ron Baker - Wichita State (vs Miami, $8,000)
Baker netted a, uh, Baker's dozen (13 points) in the Shockers' first-round win over Arizona. He should do just as well, if not better, against Miami on Saturday night. Baker is a multi-category player (14.4 PPG, 4.9 RPG, 3.3 APG, 1.5 SPG), and a bargain at the price.
Joel Berry II - North Carolina (vs Providence, $6,500)
Berry is a solid performer for the Tar Heels (12.7 PPG, 3.3 RPG, 3.5 APG), but he's been on a bit of a roll of late. Over the past seven games, he's averaged 15.9 PPG, and recorded the first 20-point games of his career (twice). He's a bargain at the price.
CBB DFS Forwards to Target on FanDuel
Georges Niang Iowa State (vs Arkansas-Little Rock, $9,900)
Unlike his teammate Morris, Niang is on a bit of a roll--scary, since he's a beast anyway. After a 28-point game in the first round of the NCAAs, the power forward is averaging an even 20 PPG, along with 6.2 RPG and 3.3 APG. He's a no-brainer.
Justin Sears - Yale (vs Duke, $8,100)
Yale has made it to the Big Dance for the first time in more than 50 years--and the Bulldogs even won their first-round game! Unfortunately, not all of the news around the program has been good, but that doesn't seem to be affecting the players still playing. Sears has been a solid front-court performer all season (15.9 PPG, 7.4 RPG, 2.9 APG), and though he's a relatively slight 6-8, 205 pounds, he showed with an 18-point game in Yale's first-round win over No. 5-seed Baylor that he can play with the big boys. The boys don't get much bigger than perennial contenders Duke, but Sears should be just fine.
Tyler Wideman - Butler (vs Virginia, $5,500)
The sophomore Wideman is--ugh--a wide man (6-8, 246 pounds), and he's coming off one of his best games of the season, with 14 points and seven rebounds in the Bulldogs' first-round win over Texas Tech. For the season, he's averaging only 7.9 PPG, 5.8 RPG, 1.1 SPG and 1.5 BPG, but he's trending in the right direction and should be worth a shot at the price.
Jameel McKay - Iowa State (vs Arkansas-Little Rock, $7,300)
When he's on, McKay (11.9 PPG, 8.9 RPG) is good for a double-double. When he's off, not so much. Recently, he's had a good game every other outing. He had 11 points in the first round, so it's hard to know whether he's done or due. Given the opponent, though, he's probably worth a shot.
CBB DFS Players to Avoid on FanDuel
Roosevelt Jones - Butler (vs Virginia, $7,900)
Jones (13.7 PPG, 6.7 RPG, 4.8 APG) is normally a solid performer, but he's had a rough go of it in the postseason so far, scoring just 5 and 4 points, respectively, in his past two games. UVA will be a tough test for the Bulldogs, and we don't expect Jones to recover against the Cavs.
Jamal Murray - Kentucky (vs Indiana, $9,100)
Murray has had an amazing season (20.1 PPG, 5.1 RPG), but he's pricey. And, not surprisingly, given that he's a freshman, the UK guard has struggled shooting wise against ranked opponents this season. IU is, of course, ranked, and may in fact be the toughest team the Wildcats have faced all season. Given his price, it's best to take a pass on Murray this time around.
