Everyone knows about March Madness, but only Daily Fantasy players know that this can be a difficult week for team selection, given the complexities of the conference tournament schedule.
After all, Tuesday is a day for "play-in" games--contests in which lower-seeded teams fight it out for a sit at the big table--and not all of these players will have been on your radar throughout the season, given that they play for lesser-known, poor-performing squads.
So which players are your best bets for today? Without further delay, below are our favorite Daily Fantasy College Basketball picks for FanDuel DFS games for March 8, 2016.
CBB DFS Guards to Target on FanDuel
Anthony Barber - NC State(vs Wake Forest, $9,700)
Barber won't come cheaply, but he's as close as you'll get a no-brainer in a daily game today. His stat line is outstanding (23.4 PPG, 4.6 RPG, 4.3 APG), and his team's opponent tonight (Wake Forest) has won only two games against ACC opponents all season.
Dwayne Bacon - Florida State(vs Boston College, $6,800)
Who doesn't like Bacon? Seriously, even vegetarians have to like this fabulous freshman, who is averaging 15.8 PPG and 5.8 RPG for the Seminoles. Bacon should have a big night against BC, which went 0-18 in ACC play this season.
Xavier Rathan-Mayes - Florida State(vs Boston College, $5,800)
Rathan-Mayes is more of a creator than a scorer (11.8 PPG, 4.5 APG), but he has been the veteran leader (he's a junior) for a young Seminoles team. We might not take him on a night with more games on the slate, but at $5,800 he's a good buy and should have a big night against BC.
CBB DFS Forwards to Target on FanDuel
BeeJay Anya - NC State (vs Wake Forest, $4,900)
Anya's numbers in the "big" categories (4.6 PPG, 5.3 RPG) don't exactly jump off the page, but at 6-9 285, the guy's a beast and he should be able to do well against a team that plays relatively small (despite the beef on its roster). He still won't score much, but he'll get his rebounds and likely add to his outstanding blocked shots total (2.3 BPG).
Abdul-Malik Abu - NC State (vs Wake Forest, $8,000)
We like Abu's game in general (12.9 PPG, 8.7 RPG). But his team's opponent tonight makes him a solid pick. He should put up big numbers and he's on a bit of a roll, with three double-doubles in the past five games.
Devin Thomas - Wake Forest (vs NC State, $8,800)
Thomas is no, uh, sleeper for Wake (sorry). In fact, he's by far the best of the lot on a disappointing Demon Deacons team. With a stat line of 15.7 PPG, 10.1 RPG and 1.5 blocks per game, he's a force inside and a consistent performer, even against a superior opponent.
CBB DFS Centers to Target on FanDuel
Dennis Clifford – Boston College(vs Florida State, $7,700)
There aren't many true centers on the board tonight, and Clifford is the best of the bunch. He'll give you solid, though not spectacular numbers (9.3 PPG, 7.3 RPG, 1.1 BPG) and, best of all, he's been on a bit of a roll lately, netting double digits in points in four straight games.
Boris Bojanovsky - Florida State (vs BC, $5,600)
Bojanovsky, a senior, has not performed well of late, ending his final regular season in Tallahassee with a bit of a whimper. But then again, he hasn't faced lowly BC every night. He won't give you much (6.2 PPG, 4.5 RPG), but he's good for blocks (1.9 PG), and given his opponent tonight he might make good roster filler.
CBB DFS Players to Avoid on FanDuel
Eli Carter - Boston College (vs Florida State, $7,400)
Normally, we like Carter, but his scoring totals have been on a downward trajectory as the season winds down, and his team faces an uphill battle against a Florida State team on the NIT/NCAA Tournament bubble and desperate for wins.
Jerome Robinson - Boston College (vs Florida State, $5,700)
Notice a trend? This freshman's best days are ahead of him (11.9 PPG), but we expect his team to have a tough night tonight, and his numbers could suffer as a result.
