The college basketball tournaments have been given a boost with the NBA on break and the NHL doing the Four Nations Tournament. College basketball takes DFS center stage for a few days and I'll be here with you from now until Wednesday so you can get your DFS fix in.
We have eight games on the first Sunday after the Super Bowl, so that's more than enough to capture our interest. The American, Big East, and Big Ten (18) all have some good games on here today.
Here are my picks for the CBB DFS slate on Sunday, February 16. I will highlight the core pieces, value plays, best matchups, and the guys who could break the slate. Sound good? Let's get to it!

Today's DraftKings CBB DFS Core Pieces
Yaxel Lendeborg, UAB ($11K)
UAB 6’9 Forward Yaxel Lendeborg has been one of the most dominant players in the country this season. So far he’s averaging
18 PPG
11 RPG
4 APG
2 SPG
2 BPG
57% FGYaxel has had a huge season for UAB as he’s leading them in every statistical category and is the only player in… pic.twitter.com/XQAIAdpU6c

Lendeborg has at least 44 DraftKings points in every game since January 12 except for one. The game against South Florida. Guess who UAB plays today? That's right...South Florida.
This time the Blazers get South Florida at home and Lendeborg has topped 60 DraftKings points twice in the last month. He has the massive upside that everyone covets, but his floor is plenty good enough.
Juwan Gary, Nebraska ($7K)
The Nebraska lineup has longed for a consistent producer for a while now. Gary might be the guy. He has at least 25 DraftKings points in five straight games. He's the main scorer for Nebraska, averaging nearly 19 points per game in that span. The scoring feels like it's here to stay for a Nebraska team trying to make a late push.
Ty Berry, Northwestern ($5.8K)
Northwestern is still operating without Brooks Barnhizer and Jalen Leach, so they need a steady hand out there. That has been Berry. He doesn't have a lot of upside, but he has four straight games over 23 DraftKings points and has hit that mark in all but one game since injuries ravaged the Wildcats. Berry is about as steady as they come.

Today's DraftKings CBB DFS Slate-Breaking Potential Picks
Derik Queen, Maryland ($10.4K)
Maryland big man Derik Queen currently has the most 20-10 games amongst this year's star-studded freshman class ? pic.twitter.com/7NX1f7C2oK
— B/R Hoops (@brhoops) February 14, 2025
I considered Ryan Kalkbrenner here, but Queen's matchup is much better. Not only that, but Queen has topped 60 DraftKings points in the last week. Kalkrenner hasn't done so since the second game of the season.
Dylan Harper, Rutgers ($8.3K)
Harper was the top freshman in a loaded class for the season's first month. Injury and illness rerailed his January and Harper still hasn't been himself since except for the Illinois game on February 5. Illinois is a good defensive team and Harper lit them up for 53 DraftKings points. Who else has that upside at this price?
Jackson Shelstad, Oregon ($7.3K)
Shelstad is one of the most streaky players you'll find. He has at least 27 DraftKings points in every February game after closing out January with a scoreless disaster against UCLA. The last three games have been over 30 DraftKings points and he has a nice matchup today. We could see a big game out of Shelstad for a reasonable price.
Today's DraftKings CBB DFS Value Picks
Nick Jourdain, Memphis ($4.7K)
Memphis is a unicorn among college basketball teams. They'll run multiple big men at you because all of them are versatile. Jourdain is one of those guys. He has hit double figures in DraftKings every game in the last six despite only scoring two points in four of those games. His peripherals drive his value, which is exactly what I want from a value play.
Colby Rogers, Memphis ($4.6K)
His value is driven a bit more by scoring, but Rogers hasn't missed double figures since December 21. He's one of the most reliable value players out there for any team on any slate.
K.J. Windham, Northwestern ($4K)
The Wildcats have been throwing guards on the floor and seeing what sticks after the Leach and Barnhizer injuries. Windham erupted for 30.5 DraftKings points in 28 minutes against Oregon earlier this week. He's worth a shot to see if this one sticks.
Today's DraftKings CBB DFS Best Matchups
For the best matchups section, I will line up which positional groups have the best matchups on paper today. It could make sense to use an otherwise slumping player in a great matchup. This section can help you do that.
St John's Wings vs. Creighton
Maryland frontcourt vs. Iowa
UAB guards vs. South Florida
Maryland guards vs. Iowa
Memphis frontcourt vs. Wichita State
