Carson Palmer and Chris Johnson Excel, Larry Fitzgerald Disappoints on MNF

The Arizona Cardinals have become one of the most fantasy friendly teams in the NFL. Many fantasy matchups were won or lost late in Week 7 thanks to the Cardinals playing in this week’s Monday Night Football game against the Baltimore Ravens.

Palmer continued his trend of being a consistent source of fantasy production passing for 275 yards and two touchdowns. The Cardinals quarterback has emerged as a low-end MVP candidate with his superb play this season. Palmer has delivered seventeen or most fantasy points in standard scoring each week. Arizona’s offense is good enough to trust Palmer every week without concern, as he has a very low floor and a high ceiling.

The bad news of the night came from Larry Fitzgerald’s performance, as we’re blasting some Adele after he broke our hearts. Generally ranked as a top-three overall wide receiver play this week due to the matchup, Fitzgerald only came away with three catches for 39 yards against the Ravens.

None of the Cardinals receivers caught more than four receptions or raked in more than 65 yards. John Brown and Michael Floyd caught the two touchdown passes from Palmer. After a stupendous start to the season, Fitzgerald has fallen down to earth with single digit fantasy point games in three of the last four weeks. He is still playing well and is a must start most weeks but he’s no longer a surefire elite WR1.

Chris Johnson was the biggest fantasy star of the night as the lead running back for Arizona. The ghost of Johnson is rubbing it in all of our faces after we thought he was no longer a credible NFL running back. Johnson rushed for 122 yards and scored a touchdown on just 18 carries. Andre Ellington and David Johnson only combined for a total of eight carries, ten less than Chris Johnson.

Until the ride ends, you have to jump on Johnson’s back and let him carry your fantasy team as if it were 2009. The running back position has been disappointing this season and a gem like Johnson saving us is all we can dream of at this point. Arizona will face the Cleveland Browns next week. Cleveland is one of the worst teams at defending the run. Chris Johnson owners are in the money next week.
