Fantasy Baseball Impact Of The Los Angeles Angels Selecting The Contract Of Carson Fulmer
On Sunday, the Los Angeles Angels selected the contract of right-handed pitcher Carson Fulmer, according to a tweet from the American League West club’s official PR X account.
Per the tweet, the Angels selected Fulmer’s contract as part of a variety of other roster moves that also included placing veteran starter Tyler Anderson and first baseman C.J. Cron on the 15-day and 10-day injured list, respectively. Additionally, outfielder Mike Trout was transferred to the 60-day injured list.
A former first-round pick of the Chicago White Sox in the 2015 draft when he went eighth overall, Fulmer has appeared in 75 Major League Baseball games since the start of the 2016 season. He has played for Chicago, the Detroit Tigers, the Baltimore Orioles, the Cincinnati Reds, and now the Los Angeles Angels.
He’s pitched to a 6.42 ERA and a 5.80 FIP in 134.2 career Major League Baseball innings, striking out 8.02 batters per nine frames while surrendering 5.55 walks and 1.60 home runs per nine innings.
Most recently, Fulmer made 12 appearances (11 starts) for the Angels’ Triple-A affiliate, logging 33 strikeouts compared to 28 walks and five home runs allowed. He’s already made his debut for the Angels, scattering four hits, three earned runs, a walk, and a hit batter in four innings while striking out a pair in a relief outing.
The 29-year-old could be a threat to steal a pitcher win or two down the stretch if he continues to log long relief outings like he did in his first Angels outing. Ultimately, fantasy managers in deeper saves+holds leagues are probably better off looking elsewhere for reinforcements via the waiver wire.
