ANALYSIS: All due respect to Derek Holland, it would seem that Carlos Rodon is now the de facto ace of the White Sox staff. Rodon has been out of commission for the first three months of the season with a biceps injury, but has three starts under his belt. In those games, Rodon is 1-2 with a 4.32 ERA and 12 walks in 16 2/3 innings. That's not something that will help him show up on the top of the fantasy rankings on the waiver wire, but it will take him a little time to round into game shape. We can't read too much into those limited numbers, but they shouldn't scare you away. His 55.6% LOB% will go way up and his 6.48 BB/9 can be attributed to rust. Rodon has never been a WHIP-friendly pitcher, posting ratios of 1.44 and 1.39 in his first two Major League seasons, so his current 1.38 could be here to stay. However, he should provide an above-average K rate with a sub-4.00 ERA. Unfortunately, the win column could be bare as the White Sox continue to deal veterans in the coming weeks. For that reason, he has more value in leagues that count quality starts rather than wins. Rodon makes a solid add if you're looking for a stable presence at the back end of your fantasy rotation.
