ANALYSIS: Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Carlos Gomez has appeared on this list numerous times over the past couple years due to his power/speed combination. While he is no longer going to hit 20 homers and steal 40 bases in a season as he did in 2013, Gomez still possesses the tools. To start 2018, he has a line of .195/5/18/8/3, but there are reasons for optimism for the 32-year-old.
In 118 games last year, he had 13 homers and 18 steals. In 115 games the prior year, he posted 12 and 17. As his 2018 line shows, he is a good option for power and speed and can produce some runs, but he is likely to hurt you in the batting average department. The Rays will play the Royals and Angels this week and Gomez will likely be in the middle of the Rays lineup. If you are looking for a high-risk, high-reward option, he is your guy.
