BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 42% of Yahoo! Leagues
ANALYSIS: The ageless wonder Carlos Beltran has finally started to slow down in his age-40 season, causing many fantasy owners to assume he is at the end of his line and drop him for a newer, younger prospect. While Beltran's numbers this season (.234|31|8|24) are down, especially from his resurgent 29 home run season last year, there is still plenty to like about Beltran this season, especially in 12-team formats and beyond. For starters, although his average has not been climbing, Beltran has hit five of his eight home runs and driven in half of his RBI in the last 21 games, a sign that he is shaking off some early season rust and starting to drive the ball more. Additionally, Beltran's .272 BABIP is well off his career .301 mark, and while his hard-hit rate has dropped a bit, the rest of his peripherals are pretty in line with his career norms, meaning a regression to his BABIP is likely. That would help push his batting average back near the .250 range. Beltran may not be the player that he was back in his hey day, but fantasy owners can expect him to approach 20 home runs and drive in 80 or so RBI, especially in a very potent Astros lineup. Those numbers are good enough for ownership in 12-team leagues.
