BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 15 percent of Fleaflicker leagues
ANALYSIS: Take a gander at the average exit velocity leaderboards, and you'll see a number of the usual suspects: Giancarlo Stanton, Nelson Cruz, Miguel Sano, David Ortiz. But the name at the top might surprise you - or it would, if you hadn't seen the headline of this post. Yes, Phillies backstop Cameron Rupp has the highest mark of any MLB hitter this season. Obviously, exit velocity alone does not a good hitter make. The reality is that Rupp's track record is uninspiring, as are his plate discipline metrics. But as any fantasy owner can tell you, it's been even tougher sledding than usual getting any kind of value out of the catcher position this year. Rupp currently sports a .287/.329/.507 line with nine homers and has steadily claimed more and more playing time from veteran Carlos Ruiz as the season has progressed. He's hitting well enough to merit a roster spot in single-catcher formats at this point.
