Analysis: Wow. 74 AB into his return from the DL with the Tigers, Cameron Maybin has an eye-opening slash line of .419/.482/.486, one home run, and four stolen bases. The most notable difference in Maybin's performance at the plate is certainly his strikeouts. Despite a career strikeout percentage of 21.5%, Maybin is striking out this season at a clip of just 10.7%. Also of note, Maybin has improved upon his sub-par career walk percentage of 7.8% to a solid 10.7% in 2016. His high OBP has already presented Maybin with 39 stolen base opportunities, in which he has attempted seven steals, and converted four.
Maybin's appeal will always be his speed, and while his BABIP is high at .469, he has the speed to convert a lot of ground balls into hits, and his BA should remain statistically high if he is striking out infrequently and reading the strike zone as good as he has been.
