ANALYSIS: Cue the Undertaker GIF...
After being left for dead by the fantasy community earlier this season, Cam Akers came out of nowhere to lead the L.A. Rams backfield in both carries (14) and rushing yards (61) against the New Orleans Saints in Week 11.
The performance tied Akers' season-high in rushing yards and his 14 totes were the most he's had since Week 2. He outpaced backfield mate Kyren Williams in carries 14-7, while Darrell Henderson Jr. saw just two carries against New Orleans.
In a surprising move, the Rams waived Henderson earlier this week, opening the door for Akers to reclaim the lead back role in the L.A. backfield. We can expect Williams to mix in occasionally and handle the majority of the pass-down work.
With both Matthew Stafford and Cooper Kupp banged up, this Rams offense is struggling and looking for production anywhere it can find it. Sitting at just 3-7, 2022 is quickly turning into a lost season for the defending Super Bowl champs and it wouldn't be surprising if they give the unreliable Akers some run down the stretch.
Fantasy managers shouldn't count on him or this L.A. offense, but Akers can be considered a spotty, though viable, FLEX option for fantasy GMs in need of immediate help.
