Hello there eSports DFS enthusiasts, and welcome back to RotoBaller's coverage of Call of Duty DFS contests for DraftKings! FanDuel may have nixed their COD contests but there are plenty to choose from on DraftKings, don't worry!
I hope you read my column yesterday because I nailed the slate. Esports are getting pushed out the way a little by the opening up of baseball, but there is still money to be made and there are only a few weeks left of the COD season. We have a four-match slate on Saturday with the top two teams in the league facing off and a couple of matched with big playoff implications.
Today I'll be bringing you my COD DFS advice, analysis, and lineup picks for eSports DFS contests on DraftKings for Saturday, July 25th, 2020 at 4:00 PM EST. If you want more COD content, our premium eSports package contains user-friendly cheat sheets for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday slates. Call of Duty: Toronto Home Series (Best of 5)
- Atlanta FaZe vs. Dallas Empire
- Toronto Ultra vs. Chicago Huntsman
- Florida Mutineers vs. Minnesota ROKKR
- OpTic Gaming LA vs. Seattle Surge
COD DFS Basics
- Like in CSGO, players receive two points for a kill and are penalized -1 for dying. Therefore, the simplest stat to look at here is K/D ratio. However, players can also earn fantasy points for planting or defusing bombs (three points each) in Search and Destroy rounds, so there are some players who we can target for other skills besides their ability to kill the opponent.
- You need to roster a team slot on both sites. Teams accrue fantasy points for games won (+4), matches won (+10), and Search and Destroy rounds won (+.5).
- Teams will be playing best-of-five matches on a rotation of various game modes. Those modes and the order in which they are played is as follows: Hardpoint, Search & Destroy, Domination, Hardpoint, Search & Destroy.
- In hardpoint rounds, players with positive K/D ratios are usually the highest scorers and these rounds are often the bloodiest.
- The Domination round is a good bit different than the others as teams attempt to control flag points on the map. These rounds can be bloody, but also can be relatively low-scoring depending on how aggressive or defensive teams get in this round. Players can earn +1 for successful flag captures during this domination round.
DFS Captain Considerations
Shotzzy - Dallas takes on FaZe Clan in a battle of the top teams in this league. This should most definitely be a five-game series which means Shotzzy will be the center of attention for captain plays once again. I can't really analyze this one too much without writing the same things over and over again each day. He will be chalk but is nearly impossible to fade in this match-up.
Octane - Octane is arguably the best player in this league. His K/D is among the top in the league and he possesses more upside than anyone on this slate. The problem is that his team is terrible and playing him always comes with the risk of his team getting swept. I like them to take at least one map from OGLA. As long as you get to play that second hardpoint, his ceiling is unbeatable.
Abezy - FaZe will be chalk all across the board with Simp and Cellium likely being the chalk captains. Abezy brings just as much if not more upside to the table at typically half the captain ownership. Coming off an insane weekend last week I expect him to do much of the same in this high-paced match against Dallas.
Other captain plays: Simp/Cellium, Methodz, FormaL
COD DFS Value Plays
iLLeY - Priced in the upper-tier of what I would consider "value" on DK but in the best match of the day averaging 91 DKP per match is a steal down in this price range. At times iLLey will just take over along with Shotzzy as we saw glimpses of that happen last weekend, and if that happens, you best have him on your roster.
Scump - This is a little more GPP like, but I am trying to give you guys an option that lets you fit in as many studs as you want. Scump is sub 7k on Draftkings and while he lacks that major ceiling, he can pull us out an 80 or 90 and get you one extra stud who can go for 150+ and I will gladly take that. I expect the Ultra to be able to take a game here so he should be able to hit that 80 or 90 mark.
Other value plays: MajorManiak, Havok, Skyz, GodRx

COD DFS Stacking options
The Dallas/FaZe match is the obvious match to stack and likely chalkiest but I would not recommend fading it because if it goes five it will almost certainly produce some of the slates highest scorers. On the Dallas side, My favorites are Shotzzy, iLLeY, and Huke. As for FaZe, I like Abezy, MajorManiak, and Simp. I would make it a priority to get at least three pieces from this match in your lineups. I'll say this finishes 3-2 in the favor of the Dallas Empire.
The other series that catches my eye the most is the Toronto/Chicago match. Toronto needs one or two more wins to make it into the playoffs and at their own home series, I fully expect them to bring it here. I'm going to predict this goes five as the Ultra have been playing well as of late. My favorites on the Toronto side are Methodz and Cammy. As far as the Chicago side goes, I like FormaL, Scump, and Arcitys. I give a slight lean to Chicago here to win this series, 3-2.
Other stacks/teams: OpTic Gaming LA (Slasher and Drazah)
