Hello there eSports DFS enthusiasts, and welcome back to RotoBaller's coverage of Call of Duty DFS contests for FanDuel and DraftKings! We have back to back weekends of COD since the Minnesota series got bumped back a week and this weekend the COD league heads overseas for the Paris Legion home match.
We have a four-match slate on Friday at the earlier start time of 1:00 PM since Paris is the official host of the weekend tournament. If you've never played COD DFS, don't worry - I'm going to include a breakdown of the scoring and basics here in addition to my picks for Friday's slate. If you want more COD content, our premium Esports package contains user-friendly cheat sheets for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday slates.
Today I'll be bringing you my COD DFS advice, analysis, and lineup picks for eSports DFS contests on DraftKings and FanDuel for Friday, June 19th, 2020 at 1:00 PM. Feel free to follow me on Twitter @ThunderDanDFS as I am happy to engage with readers and try to answer your questions!
Call of Duty: Paris Home Series (Best of 5)
- Paris Legion vs. Florida Mutineers (-475)
- London Royal Ravens vs. Dallas Empire (-245)
- New York Subliners (-165) vs. Optic Gaming L.A.
- Atlanta Faze (-800) vs. Toronto Ultra
COD DFS Basics
- Like in CSGO, players receive two points for a kill and are penalized -1 for dying. Therefore, the simplest stat to look at here is K/D ratio. However, players can also earn fantasy points for planting or defusing bombs (three points each) in Search and Destroy rounds, so there are some players who we can target for other skills besides their ability to kill the opponent.
- You need to roster a team slot on both sites. Teams accrue fantasy points for games won (+4), matches won (+10), and Search and Destroy rounds won (+.5).
- Teams will be playing best-of-five matches on a rotation of various game modes. Those modes and the order in which they are played is as follows: Hardpoint, Search & Destroy, Domination, Hardpoint, Search & Destroy.
- In hardpoint rounds, players with positive K/D ratios are usually the highest scorers and these rounds are often the bloodiest.
- The Domination round is a good bit different than the others as teams attempt to control flag points on the map. These rounds can be bloody, but also can be relatively low-scoring depending on how aggressive or defensive teams get in this round. Players can earn +1 for successful flag captures during this domination round.
- There are NO sweep or "games not played" bonuses for teams or players that finish their match early. That means we don't necessarily have to target the biggest favorites on each slate.
Slate Summary
I am going to keep this section short today. I really love Friday slates because with four games we get a chance to see some exposure spread out among several different teams and not all concentrated on the same plays. The two matches that are likely to end the fastest (and therefore be potentially lower scoring for fantasy purposes) are the Florida-Paris and Atlanta-Toronto matches, both of which have 3.5 over/under totals with Vegas.
While Atlanta is the biggest favorite, I actually have more interest in them than Florida as I think Toronto has a better chance at not getting swept. The Faze have been letting teams hang around for five rounds lately and Toronto is feisty enough to pull some big games out of the Atlanta guys. Florida, meanwhile, is fresh off a tournament title last weekend and winners of four straight and facing a Paris team that is winless in their last three tournaments. So toss Florida/Paris out and we've narrowed things down to three matches. I'll still have some Atlanta, but New York, London, Optic Gaming and Dallas are the teams that I will primarily be looking at for my DFS plays.
Update: FanDuel has added a “map not played bonus” of 15 points per player and 10 points per team. This keeps Florida and Atlanta in play but makes me more interested in Atlanta as I was before . I may still fade Florida because if they sweep 30 bonus points per player is still probably not optimal compared to another round of hardpoint.
COD DFS Captain Considerations
Shotzzy is one of my favorite plays on the slate but is priced as the most expensive captain on DraftKings and the second most expensive player on FanDuel. He's just so solid in every game format and should score well in a series that goes four or five games. He's definitely worth his price for cash games though there are a few cheaper options I do like for tourneys.
Mack is a one-man wrecking ball for this New York team. He's carrying a 1.1 K/D ratio this season and carries the best scoring average in all three game modes on his team. The other New York players have been sporadic with their production, but Mack is the guy with the huge ceiling and solid floor that I want as my captain in GPPs.
Other captain plays: Simp, Celium
COD DFS Value Plays
Wuskin continues to be really cheap on both sites, despite leading his team with a 1.22 K/D ratio this season. He's definitely had some bad games, but you simply can't find a player with his upside at this price very often. If London is to make a competitive match out of this one, it will likely be on the back of a big day from Wuskin.
Tjhaly and Kuavo are cheap exposure to this Optic squad that has shown that it can score really well this season, even if they only have a middling win-loss record to show for it. I lean Tjhaly over Kuavo for consistency but I will mixing and matching both in my Optic stacks.
Other value plays: Priestahh, MajorManiak, Mettalz

COD DFS Stacks
Dallas is my top stack on the board for the second week in a row (for cash games, specifically, I do like this New York/Optic game a ton for tourneys). They have everything we are looking for here in a team to target. They are solid favorites and facing a worth adversary in London that theoretically should be able to win a round or two and push the series to 4-5 games. London is good enough in hardpoint that they can take a game and we've seen some of their opponents post some high scores against them this season. Shotzzy is still my captain in any Dallas stacks and Huke has been better than Clayster lately, though his increased price on FanDuel reflects that.
Optic Gaming is my favorite GPP stack. They have been known to get into some very high-scoring matches this season and this matchup against another middle-of-the-road team in New York could make for a good one for fantasy. I don't really care if New York or Optic win, nor should it matter, as long as we get five rounds in this one and a chance at a bunch of fantasy points. I think that could definitely happen with New York being great at hardpoint and Optic being such a strong team in Domination. The top two plays from Optic are always Slasher and Dashy and I think the best third option is likely Tjhaly, who is a solid value on both sites. Kuavo is also viable as the third piece in an Optic stack, too. I'll be running Mack back from New York with any Optic stacks as I think all the studs in this game have a great chance at going over 100 fantasy points.
Other stacks/ teams: Atlanta
Fade: Florida (favorite that's most likely to sweep)
