Hello there eSports DFS enthusiasts, and welcome back to RotoBaller's coverage of Call of Duty DFS contests for FanDuel and DraftKings! After two weeks off, we welcome back COD this weekend to our full coverage of Esports here at Rotoballer.
We have a four-match on Friday as the COD league heads to the Pacific Northwest for the weekend for the Seattle Surge home series. With LoL DFS coming to an end for about a month, we are going to see more attention on some of the other eSports like CSGO, COD, Rocket League, and likely better contests too. If you've never played COD DFS, don't worry - I'm going to include a breakdown of the scoring and basics here in addition to my picks for Friday's slate.
Today I'll be bringing you my COD DFS advice, analysis, and lineup picks for eSports DFS contests on DraftKings and FanDuel for Friday, May 22nd, 2020 at 4:00 PM. Feel free to follow me on Twitter @ThunderDanDFS as I am happy to engage with readers and try to answer your questions!

Call of Duty: Seattle Home Series (Best of 5)
- Paris Legion vs. Chicago Huntsmen (-550)
- LA Guerillas vs. London Royal Ravens (-280)
- Optic Gaming LA vs. Minnesota Rokkr (-165)
- New York Subliners vs. Seattle Surge (+290)
COD DFS Basics
- Like in CSGO, players receive two points for a kill and are penalized -1 for dying. Therefore, the simplest stat to look at here is K/D ratio. However, players can also earn fantasy points for planting or defusing bombs (three points each) in Search and Destroy rounds, so there are some players who we can target for other skills besides their ability to kill the opponent.
- You need to roster a team slot on both sites. Teams accrue fantasy points for games won (+4), matches won (+10), and Search and Destroy rounds won (+.5).
- Teams will be playing best-of-five matches on a rotation of various game modes. Those modes and the order in which they are played is as follows: Hardpoint, Search & Destroy, Domination, Hardpoint, Search & Destroy.
- In hardpoint rounds, players with positive K/D ratios are usually the highest scorers and these rounds are often the bloodiest.
- The Domination round is a good bit different than the others as teams attempt to control flag points on the map. These rounds can be bloody, but also can be relatively low-scoring depending on how aggressive or defensive teams get in this round. Players can earn +1 for successful flag captures during this domination round.
- There are NO sweep or "games not played" bonuses for teams or players that finish their match early. That means we don't necessarily have to target the biggest favorites on each slate.
COD DFS Captain Considerations
Dashy has been one of the most consistent players in the COD league this year and is my favorite captain play from Optic on Friday. He's gone over 100 kills in two of his last three matches and has been over 100 FD and DK points in three of his last four.
While he is the second-most-expensive captain option on Draftkings, he's a very affordable 9.3k on FanDuel where he'll likely be overlooked at the MVP slot because of his price (people tend to default to playing only the most expensive players at MVP). I really like his teammate Slasher here, too.
Wuskin has one of the best K/D ratios in the league and has been a beast in Hardpoint rounds for London. I think London is one of the best teams to target on this slate as they face the worst team in the league, the L.A. Guerillas.
We saw the type of ceiling he has last time out when he posted 97 kills to 70 deaths against Optic at the Florida series. He's cheaper than teammate Skrapz, who is also a solid captain choice, but has every bit the upside.
Other captain plays: Slasher, Assault, Skrapz
COD DFS Value Plays
MackMelts (Mack on FD) is the most expensive player on FanDuel at 10.5k but is only 8.2k on Draftkings. He had an awesome weekend in Florida, leading New York to a 2-2 record including 3-0 sweeps f Florida and Minnesota on the way to their best finish at a tournament this season.
Godrx feels too cheap for Minnesota at only 8k on DK, while he's not really a value on FD at 9.2k. He leads Minnesota in K/D ratio and might be low-owned on this slate after he didn't play well at the last tournament in Florida.
Other value plays: Scump (FD), Accuracy (DK), The Entire Seattle team on FanDuel (Octane - 8600, Apathy - 7900, Slacked - 7800, Karma - 7600)

COD DFS Stacks
London is one of the top stacks on the board in my opinion. They have the right combination of what we are looking for here as they are solid favorites (-280) over the Guerillas who are sitting in dead last in the standings. They should win this match, but more likely in four or five games, not a clean sweep. Remember, we are trying to avoid sweeps and the longer a series goes, the more potential for players in that match to accrue fantasy points. Vegas has the series at 4.5 for the O/U, which is what we are looking for instead of games with a 3.5 O/U (New York-Seattle and Chicago-Paris).
London is led by the aforementioned Wuskin and I'd be starting my London stacks with him and teammate Skrapz. I'm okay with Wuskin or Skrapz in the captain slot as both have shown solid ceilings. Dylan and Seany have both had big games and are viable third pieces of any London stack.
London should handle L.A in the Hardpoint rounds, which is where they can really rack up a large number of kills and pad their fantasy stats. But they are vulnerable in Search and Destroy rounds which gives this series the potential to go five games. They are a middling 5-8 this season and coming off a disappointing 1-2 finish at the last tournament, so this is definitely a "get-right" spot for them.
Optic Gaming L.A. (5-9) are sitting at eighth in the standings after struggling at the beginning of the season but are coming off a strong 3-2 finish at the Florida series and are slight underdogs against Minnesota here. I think both sides of this match are stackable and that this match has the potential to be incredibly high-scoring if it goes to five games. Optic swept Minnesota 3-0 earlier this season, but they're likely to get more resistance than that this time out against this fourth-place Minnesota team.
Slasher and Dashy are the two main carries for this Optic team and I'll pair them together in all my stacks and alternate them at captain/MVP. Kuavo and Tjhaly are both worthy of consideration as a third piece to an Optic stack with Kuavo being my favorite. He had an impressive 10 captures in the Domination round against Toronto in their last match in addition to 99 kills.
Other stacks/ teams: New York, Minnesota
Potential Fade: Chicago (most likely to sweep)
