Cade Povich is a fantasy baseball waiver wire pickup for Week 13 (2024). Target Cade Povich as a starting pitcher free agent waiver wire add for fantasy baseball.
BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 7% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: The Baltimore Orioles' top pitching prospect, Povich fared much better in his second start against the Braves than he did in his debut against Toronto.
Povich tossed six scoreless innings against the Braves, striking out six while allowing five hits and zero walks. It was a stark contrast to the six runs he allowed to the Blue Jays in his first major league outing.
Povich kept the Braves off balance with a beautiful curveball and was able to locate his fastball on the corners while mixing in his cutter and changeup.
I mean this is just a beautiful pitch from Cade Povich. pic.twitter.com/q8M4RZxpkK

The curveball is a plus pitch, but he only throws his fastball around 92 mph, which means he's going to have to be very careful not to leave it in the heart of the plate.
The rookie will likely experience some bumps and bruises until he figures out how to pitch to major leaguers, but if he can stick in the Baltimore rotation, he certainly could be a useful asset for fantasy managers in deeper formats. Just keep expectations tempered - most of his starts are probably going to be somewhere in between his first and second in terms of his effectiveness.
