ANALYSIS: Chicago Cubs starting pitching prospect Cade Horton (Lat) has been sidelined with a lat injury since May 29 and is expected to be sidelined until the end of June. However, Horton was nearing his major league debut and should contend for a spot on the major league roster in the second half of the season.

Horton began the season with Double-A and posted a stellar 1.10 ERA, 0.92 WHIP, and 2:18 BB:K ratio before being promoted to Triple-A. Unfortunately, Horton got off to a slow start in his Triple-A debut, posting a 7.50 ERA and 1.56 WHIP through 18 innings. He could not break out of his slide before suffering the injury.

Last summer, Horton, a player with a stellar prospect pedigree, began the season with Single-A and ended the campaign with Double-A, showcasing his impressive growth and potential.
The former seventh overall pick in the 2022 MLB Draft should remain rostered in all dynasty and keeper leagues and could become a valued asset in redraft leagues in the second half of the summer.
