ANALYSIS: Don't you love it when coaches tell the truth?
Before the team's Week 4 matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles, Tampa Bay head coach Todd Bowles stated that Bucky Irving earned more opportunities. While the total number of touches slipped from the week before, Irving saw a career-high in rush attempts (10) and offensive snap percentage (42%). It's trending in the right direction.
On the other side of the coin, Rachaad White's snap percentage tumbled below 60% for the first time in 2024. The rookie is averaging exactly three more yards per carry (5.8 to 2.8) than White on six fewer attempts. White's route participation, the alleged saving grace for the veteran's playing time, also dipped below 50%. He had been 60% or better in the three other games.
Irving also handled the goal-line touches for Tampa Bay and scored his first NFL touchdown. Granted, White was dealing with an illness heading into Sunday's game.

White will be involved in the Tampa offense, but Irving's production continues to be too good for the coaching staff to ignore. Before long, he could be handling most of the work while White fills the gaps. It's time to jump on that train before it's too late.
