The NASCAR Cup Series ran the Food City 500 this past Sunday afternoon at Bristol Motor Raceway with Denny Hamlin emerging victorious in Thunder Valley yet again after a wild race filled with tire management issues for many drivers. This is Hamlin's second straight victory at Bristol and Joe Gibbs Racing's second straight win this season.
Hamlin had the best Average Running Position in the race (4.99) and all three of his JGR teammates also ranked inside the top five when it came to that statistic. Brad Keselowski (6.37) was the only non-JGR car inside the top five when it came to Average Running Position at Bristol.
Of the top five finishers in this weekend's event, Alex Bowman had the worst Average Running Position at 14.49, as he really didn't show a bunch of speed until the final green flag run of the race. Bowman also started back in 29th, which didn't help his Average Running Position. The rest of the top five finishing guys all ranked sixth or better when it came to Average Running Position.
