POSITIONAL VALUE: WR4/5
ANALYSIS: There are more than enough opportunities for rookie first-round pick Brian Thomas Jr. this season. 3,174 air yards have been vacated from a season ago. Former Jacksonville outside wide receivers Calvin Ridley and Zay Jones combined for 1,337 yards on 110 receptions.

Thomas and Gabe Davis fill the roles of the departed. The pair should regularly see the field alongside slot receiver Christian Kirk and tight end Evan Engram. That's where potential problems arise for the rookie in Week 1.
In his final season at LSU, Thomas recorded 68 receptions for 1,177 yards and 17 touchdowns. That's over 17 yards per reception. While the deep ball is a favorite for Trevor Lawrence, most targets will funnel toward Kirk and Engram. Those two will continue to be Lawrence's primary options early in the season.
The rookie's welcome to the league may be a date with Jalen Ramsey. The star cornerback typically doesn't travel (and there's no star receiver for him to shadow), meaning there will be snaps of Thomas vs. Ramsey.
Fantasy managers drafted the rookie as a bench receiver. He has incredible potential but there's no sense in moving him into starting lineups in his first professional game. Thomas is a boom/bust option until he proves otherwise.

The wide receiver position has an advantage over the running back position in PPR scoring formats, typically.
