BALLER MOVE: Add in All Leagues
OWNED IN: 35% of leagues
ANALYSIS: Just when you thought there couldn't possibly be any more prospects called up to the majors this week, here comes Brendan Rodgers. The Rockies' newest rookie has hit a blistering .356/.421/.644 at Triple-A this year, with nine home runs and 55 R+BI in 35 games. Take those numbers with a grain of salt, coming as they did in the Pacific Coast League, but the 22-year-old has been a fixture on top prospect lists for a few years now. It was thought that his promotion might be related to the knee injury that Trevor Story suffered earlier this week in Boston, but the veteran is in the lineup for today's game in Philadelphia. So is Rodgers, who will start at second base and bat seventh.
With Garrett Hampson demoted, Ryan McMahon struggling, and Daniel Murphy clearly still hampered by a finger injury, Rodgers should in theory have the inside track on playing time at the keystone. I say "in theory" because you can never assume anything sensible when it comes to the Rockies. Bear that risk in mind, but Rodgers' talent makes him worthy of a speculative add in almost any format.
