ANALYSIS: If behind the back putouts were scored in fantasy baseball, Phillips would be taken first in every draft. This season Phillips was severely slept on due to a decrease in power and a perceived decrease in speed. Phillips has had quite a bounceback season to show he still has the swagger he talks about in post game interviews.
In 2015 Phillips has a .284 BA, 8 HR, 40 RBI, 51 runs as the Reds' leadoff man. He's also 17-for-18 in stolen base attempts. Phillips didn't start the year hitting so hot with a first half OPS of .679, but has bounced back in the second half of the season with a .759 OPS. In the last two weeks, he has 3 HR, 6SB, and a .929 OPS in just 51 AB.
Part of Phillips' success this season can be attributed to the fact that he increased his LD% to 30% and has a strike out percentage of 11.4%, which is the lowest of his career. Fantasy owners in need of a little bit of everything should look to ride the hot hand (and feet) and pick up the slick-fielding vet.
