ANALYSIS: Brandon Phillips has gotten his Braves career off to a solid start. The 35-year-old, who had spent his entire MLB career playing for teams based in Ohio before this season, is hitting .326/.371/.448 with a homer and four stolen bases. We've got a ways to go before batted ball types begin to stabilize, but with all the attention paid to the fly ball revolution, it's interesting to note that Phillips has gone in the opposite direction early on, hitting over 60% of his batted balls on the ground to this point. The veteran clearly hasn't lost much in the way of speed or contact ability, so perhaps this is a conscious choice.
Phillips is your typical boring vet, but owners who need a boost in AVG or SB could do much worse than rostering him.
