Brandon Aiyuk (WR, SF) - Fantasy Football Week 9 Waiver Wire Pickups

ANALYSIS: QB Jimmy G got banged up a bit and missed a few games through the past few weeks leading up to San Francisco's Week 6 Bye. He's now been back for two straight games--he already put up a QB2 score in Week 7 but he was wonderful in Week 8 with a QB3-overall finish. One of the beneficiaries of Jimmy's comeback? Oft-misused WR Brandon Aiyuk, who seemed to regain a bulky role against Chicago this past weekend.

Aiyuk, if you remember, made for one of the early-season storylines after playing only 47% and 54% of the 49ers snaps in W1 and W2 while getting 2 total targets of which he caught one for 6 yards. Ugh. The snaps grew considerably in Week 3 for an 86% share, but that cratered for the next three games until Aiyuk finally got another fair share of usage this past Sunday: 50 snaps, 88%, and 7 targets that ended in 4 receptions for 45 yards.

I mean, at this point is hard to fully trust Aiyuk--or better said, San Fran handing him a large diet of targets/chances. But Aiyuk is not a bad wide receiver, only a mis-/under-used one to this day in 2021. Aiyuk's W3 and W8 combine for a 13-8-82-1 receiving line while his other five games would do so for a measly 10-4-59-0. That tells you everything about Aiyuk's ability vs. Aiyuk's usage. And that's precisely what Aiyuk looks good as a WW target to my eyes, but only for those in deeper leagues given he's more a flier than a weekly lock to perform and to put up numbers.
